Whom to Protect and How

This article, by a plethora of authors including Robert Blendon, gives statistics that the vast majority of Americans believe that the Internet Revolution has had a positive effect on society. However, access to the Internet has caused some problems, such as pornography, loss of privacy, violence, and more. People believe that the government should regulate what is put on the Internet, but that could start issues concerning First Amendment rights. We need to find a way to regulate the harmful aspects of freedom of speach in the Internet, without violating the rights of people who are doing nothing wrong.

What is written is agreeable; the "Internet Revolution" has had a great effect on society. The availability of information that an internet user can obtain is enormous; but there are some things on the internet (pornography), that should be blocked out for children under the rightful age. The government can block the information, by making every internet user have their own personal internet logon user name. This suggestion can lead to many problems, because people all over the world use the internet. The next step would have to be a world wide revision of the internet.
